ANSWERS:

Abandonware is
a term used to describe software of any
age that has been discontinued or abandoned
by its original copyright owners. Most
Abandonware sites exist to keep alive
old games that otherwise might disappear.
Ok.
I've downloaded a game. Now what?
Well, 50% is done.
Now all we have to do is make that old
XT/386 based game to work on my brand
new Pentium 4 3.4 Mhz 1GB RAM machine.
:)
- First, you
should know that the games you download
through abandonline.com are compressed
with PKZIP software. In order to play,
we will have to unzip the files into
a desired folder. If you dont have PKUNZIP
or WINZIP installed on your machine,
get it here.
- After decompressing
the game into the desired folder (i.e:
C:\GAMES\DIGGER), we should search for
the setup files.
- Most of the
games use setup files such as SETUP.EXE
or INSTALL.EXE. Try to search them first.
- Be sure to setup
your game to the best preformance you
can get within the
game's possibilities. (Remember the
game is quite old and most of the options
will not best suit your machine).
- Once finished,
try to run the game with it's executable
file. (i.e DIGGER.EXE). Be sure to close
other programs if your using a new version
of Windows (98, 2k, XP), and if you
have the possibility to run in MS-DOS
mode, reset the computer and do so.
- If your game
loads well, have fun playing! if not
-> proceed with FAQ section.

fast! What should I do?
As you know, the
turbo button (yes, the button you used
to press for hours and watch the numbers
change from 33 to 17) are
long gone from this world, so in order
to slow some games (my alley cat was eaten
by the dog 5 times in 2 secs) we will
use a program called MoSlo.
It works quite well for most games. Unzip
the program to the same directory as the
game you want to run slower. Load the
game this way: "MOSLO /## GAME.EXE".
## is the percentage you want to reduce
the speed. 50 will actually reduce game
speed by half, 75 by three thirds and
so on. (you get the idea) :)
Get MoSlo here.

Try using DOSBox. DOSBox is a great program
which allows you to run games on operating
systems that does not support DOS, especially
Windows2000 or Windows XP. Another great
feature is it supports Sound Blaster,
so if you have some problems with the
sound, this program should do the work.
Get DOSBox here.
